ALBERTA STUMP Francelene "Alberta Stump", 80, of Blue Mound, Kansas, died Sunday, November 26, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas. She was born April 5, 1926 in Everest, Kansas the daughter of Abraham and Gladys Cohoon Torkelson. She graduated from Effingham High School and Baker University. She married Samuel Stump on August 21, 1949 at Baldwin City, Kansas. Alberta taught school in the Everest area in the mid 1940's. She was a music teacher for 38 years for several school districts including, Gardner, Kincaid, Bronson and West Bourbon Elementary. She also gave private music lessons for a number of years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Blue Mound where she played the organ for many years; a member of the United Methodist Women and Women's Advance Club of Blue Mound. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Orville. Survivors include her husband, Sam of the home; two daughters, Vicki Smith & husband, Jerry of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Debbie Hedges & husband, Rob of Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Selmer Torkelson of Lawrence, Kansas; one sister, Ethylene Bosworth of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three grandchildren, Melissa, Angela and Tommy Hedges, also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at the United Methodist Church, Blue Mound, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 -8:00 PM, Tuesday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House or the United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Blue Mound, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City, Kansas.
