Bettie Jo Kennedy, age 85, of Adrian, Missouri, formerly of LaCygne, Kansas passed away on Sunday March 31, 2013. She was born on November 25, 1927 at Springer, New Mexico the daughter of Joel and Ora Clanton Tilton. She married Kenneth Kennedy on September 13, 1946. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1995. Bettie worked as a homemaker, telephone operator, a certified key punch operator for the IRS and was employed by cook book pulblishers. She learned to play golf later in life and enjoyed playing in New Mexico and at Linn Valley Lakes with her daughter Nancy after moving to the LaCygne area. She was a master Scrabble player and gardener. She had a beautiful sunroom for her plants. She was also a wonderful cook, date nut bread being her specialty. She was a special lady who loved her family deeply and in return was loved by them. Bettie enjoyed traveling, taking cruises to the Carribean and Alaska, and trips to South Dakota, New York, and Maine, and an extended trip to Australia. She was also preceded in death by a brother Don Tilton. Bettie is survived by two sons, Larry Kennedy and Barbara of Conroe, Texas, and David Kennedy and Susan of New Braunfels, Texas, a daughter Nancy McDonnell and Jim of Archie, Missouri, six grand and thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday April 7, 2013 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, LaCygne Chapel. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, LaCygne.
