Betty Louise (Morris) Cikanek, 74, of Peculiar, Missouri, formerly of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Rehabilitative Center of Raymore, Raymore, Missouri. She was born August 25, 1935 in Fort Scott,Kansas, the daughter of Paul and Lillie Corbin Morris. Betty graduated from Pleasanton High School, attended Fort Scott Community College, received a Bachelors of Science Degree from Pittsburg Teachers College and a Masters Degree from Emporia State University. She was an elementary school teacher and taught at Union School,Pleasanton school, and later Wichita schools. She married Richard Cikanek on August 10, 1964. She was a member of the River Lawn Christian Church in Wichita where she was an active member and sang in the choir. She enjoyed showing horses, playing bridge, golfing and square dancing. She is survived by her husband, Richard of the home;three sisters, Verla smith of Pleasanton, Kansas; Janis Greathouse of Peculiar, Missouri and Joyce Holm of Shawnee, Kansas. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
