CHARLES CLAY Charles Arthur Clay, 72, of Blue Mound, Kansas died Saturday, July 1, 2006 at his home. He was born October 30, 1933, in Mapleton, Kansas, the son of Henry P. and Wilma N. Bowers Clay. He married Ruby Russell on October 29, 1960 in Mound City, Kansas. Charles worked in Eddie Ferguson's garage as a mechanic, ran Clay Service Shop, drove a school bus and worked for the Blue Mound School as janitor. He worked for Linn County for 23 years, retiring in 1998 and was pastor of the Blue Mound Federated Church for 20 years. Charles was also a pastor to everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marjorie Cook and Dora Curtis. Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of Blue Mound, Kansas; one son, Charles Preston Clay & wife, Diane of Fort Scott, Kansas; two daughters, Doretta Neville & husband, David of Fort Scott, Kansas and Carla Leavitt & husband, Bill of Mound City, Kansas; three grandchildren, Kayla Clay, Megan and Nathan Leavitt, one sister, Mary Holmberg of Independence, Kansas and one brother, Alvin "Bill" Clay of Tennessee. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 3, 2006 at the Blue Mound Federated Church. There is no visitation. Contributions are suggested to the Gideon's International. Interment will be in Sunny Slope Cemetery, Blue Mound, Kansas. Arrangements: Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City, Kansas.
