CHARLES "POP" COX Charles "Pop" Cox Jr., age 85,of Mound City,Kansas, died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Mercy Health System, Fort Scott, Kansas. He was born May 27, 1921 in Bethel, Kansas, the son of Charles and Mary Cox. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the United States Army. He was employed as a shop superintendent with the Kansas City, Kansas Street Department, prior to his retirement. Charles was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bethel and the American Legion Hewitt-New Post of Mound City. He moved to the Mound City area in the early 1980's. Survivors include three sons; Steve Alan Cox & wife, Tel-Lea of Pleasanton, Kansas, Larry Paul Cox & wife, Glenda of Tonganoxie, Kansas; and John Dennis Cox & wife, Sharon of Texas City, Texas; four grandchildren, Charles, Crissie, Karen & David and four great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at Chapel Hill, Kansas City, Kansas. A visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Monday, at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City, Kansas. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Charles Cox Memorial Fund. Arrangements: Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City, Kansas.
