Charles Eugene Franklin, age 79, Hume, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. He was born in Hume, Missouri on December 26, 1938, the son of Earl B. and Mildred B. Spillman Franklin. He graduated from Hume High School and attended Fort Scott Community College and Pittsburg State University. Charles married Norma Jean Miller on August 20, 1960 at the Hume Christian Church. He wore many hats while making a living. He ran a Conoco Station at Hume, was NC+ seed dealer and drove a bulk fuel truck. However, his love was farming. Charlie was active in the community and church. He coached baseball and was a member of the Hume Lion''s Club. He was a member of the Hume Christian Church, serving as an elder and teaching Sunday School. He was also involved in mission work. He sat on the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission board for many years. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Franklin on September 24, 2011, his parents and a brother, Gary Franklin. Charles is survived by his wife Norma Jean, a son Eugene "Geno" Franklin and wife Lucy, a brother Keith Franklin, eight grandchildren: Caleb, Cody, Logan, Tiffany, Selena, Ariana, Esmerelda and Nolan and three great grandchildren: Colton, Chesney and Dominic. Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Hume Christian Church. Burial will be in the Hume Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday at the Church.
