Charles Leon Hays

Charles Leon Hays, age 82 of La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Charles was born the son of Harold and Betty McCullough Hays on August 27,1943, in Kansas City, Kansas. He married Phyllis Bland on September 6, 1964, to this union two children were born. Charles was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed working on home improvements and remodeling. On occasion he enjoyed fishing and camping. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Fred and Garry Hays and a sister, Jerry Sue Thomas. Charles is survived by his wife, a daughter Carla Hazelet and husband, James, a son, Philip Hays, two grandchildren, Cole Hazelet and Jodie Roth and three great grandsons, Amadeus Eugene Hazelet, Jackson Jae Roth and Jameson Leon Roth.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 29 at the La Cygne Christian Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
