Clara Mae Rees

Clara Mae Rees, age 84, Cherokee, Kansas passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026. She was born on October 14, 1941 in St. Paul, Kansas the daughter of Joseph Edward and Anna Marie Collins Lero. Clara was united in marriage to John Rees on January 31, 1960. The two loved their Catholic Faith, morning coffee on the back deck, and playing cards at the kitchen table. They held special places in their hearts for each child, grandchild, and great grandchild. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Joseph, Norbert, Meryl, and Thomas Lero, three sisters, Anna Marie Shaw, Sr. Margaret Lero, and Mary Jurgensmeier, and one grandson, Brandon Rees. Clara is survived by a son Charles Rees and wife Carmin, three daughters, Dianne Rees, Brenda Jackson and husband Joe, and Shirley Eden and husband Ron, two sisters, Sr. Agnes Lero, and Evelyn Mosier, eight grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Saturday, August 15, 2026 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Galena, Kansas. Burial will be 2 pm Saturday at Mapleton, Kansas Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am before Mass on Saturday at St. Patrick. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Bridget Catholic Church.
