Darlene Elam

Darlene Elam age 71, of LaCygne, Kansas died Tuesday July 12, 2011 at her home. She was born on June 26, 1940 at Welch Oklahoma the daughter of Charles and Jane Kerns. Darlene married Russell Elam on May 28, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas. Darlene worked at many grocery stores around Linn County, as a cook, a seamstress, she owned and operated Lucky's bait shop, and as a homemaker. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents two brothers; Earnie Kerns and Billy Hobbs, two sisters; Ruby Dewolf and Mary Hobbs, a son in-law Darrell Gillis, and a daughter in-law Tammy Elam. She is survived by her husband Russell of the home, two sons James Elam of LaCygne, Kansas and Rodney Adams of Turner, Kansas, a daughter Lisa Gillis of Wamego, Kansas, five brothers; Donnie Kerns, Robert Dewolf, Albert Weathers, Jack Weathers, and Buck Hobbs, a sister Ruth Weathers, three grandchildren Jacob, Nichole, and Summer Elam, two great grandchildren Kyleigh Guzman Braydon Guzman, and a great granddaughter on the way Lilly Elam. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday July 16, 2011 at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home LaCygne, Kansas. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coffelschnider.com .
