DORA "CLIDENNA" THATCHER Dora Clidenna Thatcher, 79, of Pleasanton, Kansas, passed from this life on Thursday, September 21, 2006. She was born March 6, 1927 in rural Pleasanton to Charlie and Alma McAlister Springer. She had two brothers, Eddie and Clarence Springer and two sisters, Dorothy Snow and Rebecca Ewy. Clidenna graduated from Prescott Rural High School in 1944 and then joined the Cadet Nursing program at Fort Scott Mercy Hospital. In 1947 she became a registered nurse and worked during her life in hospitals, nursing homes and as a school nurse. She served on a church medical team on a mission to Haiti in 1976 and 1978. On September 3, 1947, she married Walter Raymond Thatcher at the RLDS Church in Mapleton, Kansas. They had three children, Regina, Cinda and Andrew. Clidenna served as an elder in the Community of Christ Church. She enjoyed playing the piano for church, teaching classes and going to conferences and camps. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #862. She liked to read, travel, sew and collect antiques. Clidenna leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Walter, of Pleasanton, Kansas; one son, Andrew Thatcher and two daughters, Cinda Reynolds & husband Tim and Regina McDaniel and husband, Maurice, all of Pleasanton, Kansas; one brother, Clarence Springer and one sister, Rebecca Ewy; three grandchildren, Cassie Weiland, Charlie Henkle and Weston Henkle and six great grandchildren, Brian Baker, Cameron and Trenton Weiland and Devyn, Zayden and Jasmyne Henkle. Clidenna will be remembered for her love of family and faith in God. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 25, 2006 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be on hour prior to service time. Contributions are suggested to the Community of Christ Church, Fort Scott, Kansas. Interment will be in Pleasanton Cemetery, Pleasanton, Kansas.
