Dorothy Coffeen

Dorothy C. Coffeen, age 100, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Wednesday October 11, 2017 at Prescott Country View. She was born on February 27, 1917 at Boicourt, Kansas the daughter of Frank and Nellie Johnson Clearwater. She married Glenn Coffeen on November 17, 1934. He preceded her in death in June of 1966. Dorothy was a seamstress, and ran the Cue Club from 1966 to 1979. She was a talented artist, working with ceramics and painting. She enjoyed crocheting and shared things she made with many different people. Dorothy did not attend church. However, she was a Christian woman who believed in God and lived by the Golden Rule. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and Fred Clearwater, and three sisters: Thelma Sherman, Mary Hughes, and Edna Ross. Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Patricia Wallace, three grandchildren: Vicky Snyder, Verna Staniec and Terry Wallace, six great grandchildren and eighteen great great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 pm Sunday October 15 at the Mound City Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.
