Dorothy "Cleo" Whitten, age 102, Hume, Missouri passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the Prescott Country View. She was born on July 5, 1914 at Passsaic, Missouri the daughter of David Allen and Melinda Mosier Zwahlen. She was married to Thomas Whitten who preceded her in death in 1960. She baby sat, was a dietician at Fort Scott Mercy Hospital starting in 1969 and retiring when she turned 70. She then worked as cook at the Hume School. She was a member of the Worland Baptist Church, Hume Sr. Citizens, and quilted with the Hume Methodist Ladies, whom she dearly loved. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Whitten. Cleo is survived by a daughter, Linda Wymore, four grandchildren: Thomas Whitten Jr. and Ellen, Ronald Whitten and Jodi, Tonya Jacobs and Shane, and Tammy Hendren, seven great grandchildren: Whitney, Dalton, Melinda, Scott, Hannah, Tommy, and Haleigh, and four great great grandchildren: Logen, Hadley, Wyatt and Cole. Graveside service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Salem Cemetery, Foster, Missouri. Cleo will lie in state from 1 to 530 pm Tuesday October 18 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel.
