Edna May Winters, age 94, Pleasanton, Kansas passed away on Thursday December 12, 2013. She was born on January 7, 1919 at Mound City, Kansas the daughter of Richard M. an d Nellie Elizabeth Spears Carrel. She worked as a telephone operator in Pleasanton retiring from Craw Kan Telephone after thirty-six years of service. She was preceded in death three husbands: Silas Glen McAlister in 1944, Chester Mikesell in 1967, and Paul Winters in 1991. Also preceding her was a brother, Vernon Carrel and three sisters: Mary Stewart, Leah Dean and Eula Mertz, a stepson Paul D. Winters, and a stepdaughter Marilyn Howard. She is survived by her caregivers, Pat Franklin and Lynn Plain, sister in law Anna Mae Carrel, stepson Wiliam Winters and step daughter in law Mert Winters, numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Rose Miller. Edna was a very giving person contributing to many charities. She was a member of the Pleasanton First Christian Church and the VFW Aux. Funeral service will be held 10 AM Saturday December 21, 2013 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial in Forest Hill Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Friday at the Schneider Pleasanton Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Pleasanton First Christian Church.
