Evah Brown

Evah Nadine Brown, age 82, died quietly Wednesday November 1, 2006 at her home surrounded by her loved ones after a brave and gallant struggle since February. She was born March 1, 1924 at Centerville, Kansas the daughter of Lyman H. and Anna Boydston Fish. She attended Coffee Bean School and later graduated from Blue Mound High School. She married Maurice "Cy" Brown on July 14, 1942 at Centerville. While Cy was in the service she traveled with him to various places including Little Rock, Arkansas, Corpus Christi, Texas, and the West Coast. She worked at the Centerville State Bank for over 40 years serving as Vice President for part of that time. She was a member of the Centerville Community Church serving as pianist for over 30 years. She was also a member of the Women's Circle, Senior Citizens Board, Republican Women's Party, serving as precinct committee woman, and the Ozark Camping Club, traveling to most of the 50 United States, Canada and Mexico. A love of her travels was the Pacific Ocean. Nadine was known in the community as a loving and gracious host. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and brother in law Elaine and Ray Harshfield. She is survived by her husband Maurice "Cy" Brown of the home, one son Howard Brown and wife Bobbie of Fort Scott, Kansas, one daughter Roberta Willis and husband Jack of Kansas City, Missouri, Grandchildren: Shannon, Leslie, Glenn, Dustin, Amy & John and Great Grandchildren, Frankie, Adrianna,Tristan and Megan, Jackie, Pat, Nikki, and Tyler; sister in laws, Mary Brown, and Lela Gene Hinkle and husband Pete, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday November 4, 2006 at the Centerville Community Church, Centerville, Kansas. Burial will be in the Centerville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 PM Friday at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in Mound City, Kansas. The family suggests contributions to the Centerville Community Church Building Fund or the Hospice of Kansas. On line condolences can be left for the family at www.coffelschneider.com.
