Freda Courtois

Freda Irene Courtois, 88, of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Country View Nursing Home, Prescott, Kansas. She was born November 25, 1922 in Pleasanton, Kansas, the daughter of John Wesley and Alberta McBath Johnson. She was married to Charles "Chuck" Courtois on April 26, 1941 at Little Rock, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2009. She and Charles owned and operated Courtois Grocery Store and later the Dari Kurl in Pleasanton, prior to their retirement. Freda was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pleasanton, and the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Floyd Johnson a sister, Margaret Edwards and two half sisters, Delores Zink, Betty Snyder. Survivors include her son, Rick Courtois and wife, Ellie of Kansas City, Kansas; her daughter, Charlene Allison and husband, Jerry of Pleasanton, Kansas; her half sister, Karen Duff; six grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 23, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Thursday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Prescott Country View Nursing Home or the First Baptist Church of Pleasanton. Interment will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery.
