Frederick John Johanning, 81, of Mound City, Kansas died Saturday, August 9, 2008 at his home. He was born November 2, 1926 in Baldwin, Kansas, the son of Daniel William and Johanna Augusta Kamenberg Johanning. He owned his own truck line for twenty-two years until 1965 and then worked for Marathon Steel and Core-Slab. He married Lee Shirley Anderson on August 24, 1947 at Selma, Kansas. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2008. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mound City, Kansas where he was active on numerous committees. He was a charter member of the Kincaid Lions Club, a member of the Sugar Valley Lakes Sr. Golf Association and the Teamsters Union. He was preceded in death also by one son, Daniel Warren Johanning and three sisters, Lydia Marriott, Clara Dufrene and Lois Schroer; survivors include four sons; Fritz J. Johanning & Penny of Blue Mound, Kansas, David L. Johanning & Kim of Prescott, Kansas, Darrel D. Johanning & Malinda of Laveen, Arizona and Paul A. Johanning & Cheryl of Glendale, Arizona; two brothers, Herman Johanning of Tonopah, Arizona and Franz Johanning of Raytown, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Cremation. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, Mound City, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday at the Church. Contributions are suggested to the Community Hospice of America, Pittsburg, Kansas or First Baptist Missions. Inurnment will be in the National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kansas.
