George Farris

George P. Farris George P. Farris age 88 of LaCygne, Kansas died Friday March 24, 2006 at Life Care Center in Osawatomie, Kansas. He was born on March 29, 1917 at Waverly, Iowa the son of John and Jennie Howell Farris. He graduated from LaCygne High School. George was an Army World War II Veteran. He ran a Mobile and Texaco Station and Farris Tavern. He was a retired rural mail carrier. He married Lucy Mae Cornett on December 21, 1942 at Garnett, Kansas. She preceded him in death on October 11, 1997. Also preceding him in death was a son Ronald Farris, and infant daughter Janice Marie, a grand daughter Terry Lynn Hays, a great grandson Ayden Joseph Bryson, four brothers: Arthur, Neal, Mel and Clarence, and one sister Minnie Ross. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, the American Legion and the VFW. He is survived by his son Bob Farris and wife Lee of Olathe, Kansas, three daughters: Barbara Hays and husband Keith, Judy Medcalf and husband Bill, and Georgia Lou Farris all of LaCygne, one sister Dorothy Johnson of Paola, Kansas, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and a special friend Helen Cox. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday March 28, 2006 at the Calvary Baptist in LaCygne. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 PM until service time at the church. The family suggests contributions to Special Olympics. On line condolences for the family can be left at coffelschneider.com.
