George Marcum Jr.

George W. Marcum Jr., 72, of Mound City, Kansas, died Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. He was born March 1, 1934 in Wyandotte County, Kansas. He married Betty Jane Dallas on October 31, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri. George had retired from General Tire Company where he was an operating supervisor. He then worked as a probation officer for 10 years and also as a deputy sheriff in Linn County. He was a member of the Wall Street Christian Church and the MoKan State Line Peace Officers Association. Survivors include his wife, Jane of the home; one son, Jim Marcum & wife, Stacey of Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter, Amy Hayden & husband, Kevin of Paola, Kansas; one brother, Lee J. Marcum; two sisters, Gretchen Bartco and Jeannie Costelow; and five grandchildren, Tyler Hayden and Derek, Devin, Grant, and Gabe Marcum. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Wall Street Christian Church, Mound City, Kansas. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wall Street Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City.
