Jerry Roper, age 84, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. He was born at Hutchinson, Kansas on June 5, 1933 the son of Russell and Selma Ochs Roper. He worked at Kelly Flour mill for several years and was the steward of the baker'' union, he was a mechanic, City of Blue Mound Superintendent, owned the Trading Post Inn and currently owned and operated Everybody''s with his wife, La Nita (Rhynerson) whom he married on April 23, 1988. Jerry enjoyed visiting with people and made them feel at ease. He was an avid Royals and KU basketball fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and shooting pool. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald; and one sister, Fayetta Molby. Jerry is survived by his wife, LaNita; three sons, Roger Roper and wife Kim, Mike Denman, and Mark Denman; four brothers, Ken, Marion, Russ, and Robert; one sister, Carol Warner; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 10 am Monday August 14, 2017 at the Schneider Funeral Home Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Curry Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 pm Sunday at the Mound City Chapel. The family suggests contributions to Care to Share or Concern Inc. c/o Schneider Funeral Home, P.O.
