Glenn Randall

Glenn Dale Randall, age 95, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Friday October 25, 2013 at the Residencies of Pleasanton, Pleasanton, Kansas. Glenn was born on August 28, 1918 near Centerville, Kansas. He lived much of his youth near Wall Street Christian Church where he was an active member most of his life. His parents were John Elva Howe Randall. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leonard Randall and a sister Eva Randall. He graduated from Mound City High School in the Class of 1936. He began farming on the land where he was born near Centerville and in 1940 he married Barbara Paddock. To this union two daughters were born, Marjorie Randall Nation and Linda Randall Goldberg. Barbara and Glenn were divorced in 1961. Glenn married Faith Kibble Smith Randall on February 20, 1965. They were married in Baxter Springs, Kansas by Reverend Harold Ball. Glenn and Faith purchased Irwin Hardware and renamed the business Randall Hardware. They retired from the store in 1986 when Marjorie and husband Darrell purchased the store. Glenn liked to grow things, whether it be as a farmer or the many years that he and Faith kept a garden in town. He always liked to travel and see different places and he visited many different countries and parts of the United States. He loved to fish and after retirement he started playing golf. He always said it wasn't about hitting the ball as much as it was walking the course and talking with friends. He was married to Faith until she passed away in 2011 at the age of 96. They had many wonderful years where they enjoyed laughing together, building a thriving business and sharing time with family and friends. Glenn is survived by both of his daughters and their families. Marjorie and Darrel Nation, their four children: Tamala Snyder and husband Darren, Teresa Thompson and husband Mike, Earl Nation and wife Jacque, and Myrl Nation and wife Jill and 14 great grandchildren all of Mound City; Linda and Barry Goldberg of Bayfield, Colorado, their son Matthew Goldberg and wife Sammy and the 15th great grandchild expected any day, of Seattle, Washington. Also surviving is a niece Betty Jo Masters and husband John, four stepchildren: Wilbur and Verla Smith, Bob and Coleta Wurtz, Roger Dean and Joanne Smith and Connor and Gloria Smith, many extended family members and friends that remember him with warmth in their hearts. Funeral service will be 11 AM Monday October 28, 2013 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial in the Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 2 PM Sunday at the Chapel. The family suggests contributions to The Residencies at Pleasanton Activity Fund.
