Hilda Joyce White, 76, of Mapleton, Kansas died Monday, July 21, 2008 at Mound City, Kansas. She was born November 7, 1931 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the daughter of Vernie and Mary Bryant. She worked as a bookkeeper, had owned and operated the Village Inn Café in Mound City, and also cooked for the USD #346 school. She married Wayne White on December 21, 1957. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mound City, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Wayne White of Mapleton, Kansas; five sons, Mike White of Mound City, Kansas, Roger White of Fort Scott, Kansas, Chris White of Yukon, Oklahoma, Paul White of San Jose, California and Jerry White of Portland, Oregon; five daughters, Nancy Bracken of Branson, Missouri, Darcey Vogel of Tonganoxie, Kansas, Linda Burke of Killeen, Texas, Cathy Martine of Smithville, Missouri and Debbie Magers of Oakdale, California; one sister, Verna Craig of Ponca City, Oklahoma; twenty-one grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 25, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, Mound City, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Thursday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church or Hospice of Kansas.
