Howard Hugh Stutes age 90 Pleasanton, Kansas died Wednesday November 22, 2006 at the Prescott Country View. He was born at Burlington, Kansas on November 10, 1916 the son of Oscar and Sadie Keith Stutes. Howard lived in the Pleasanton area until joining the Army and serving in World War II. He married Irma Garrison in 1947. She preceded him in death in 1986. He then married Mary Swor in 1988. During his working career he owned a restaurant, worked as a freight clerk for the Santa Fe Railroad, worked at Colgate and finally for Griffin Wheel for twenty years retiring in 1978. He then retired to the Pleasanton area. Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Harold and Luther, and four sisters: Ruth, Sadie, Rosie and Joyce. He is survived by his wife Mary of the home, two sons, Howard Stutes and Vicki of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Ron Stutes and Penny of Warsaw, Missouri, one daughter Carolyn Moore of Grandview, Missouri, two stepsons, Ron Higgins and Kathy of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mike Swor and Alice of Fort Scott, Kansas, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; one sister Sylvia Bayley and two brothers, Oscar & Otis Stutes. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday November 27, 2006 at the Presbyterian Church in Pleasanton, Kansas. Burial will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. The family suggests contributions to the Pleasanton Cemetery or the Presbyterian Church.
