James Clinton "Jake" Bishop, 64, of Olathe, Kansas, formerly of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe,Kansas. He was born April 7, 1943 in Pleasanton, Kansas, the son of John William and Mary Ellen Jackson Bishop. He married Dixie Hostetter on November 21, 1965 at Pleasanton, Kansas. Jake was an avid KU fan. He was a Little League baseball coach, loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed his yard and garden, especially his tomatoes. His 1957 Ford Fairlane Retractable "Skyliner" remained in the garage, holding many great memories. He was employed as a press operator with West-Vaco and was Vice-President of the UPWA Union, retiring after 25 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Dixie, of Olathe, Kansas; one son, Jake Bishop & Pamela of Kansas City, Kansas; one daughter, Julie Bishop of Chicago, Illinois; one brother, Charles W. Bishop & Pamela of Emporia, Kansas; one sister, Shirley B. Flude of Olathe, Kansas and one granddaughter, Emily Bishop. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the First Baptist Church, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00 PM, Friday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton. Contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the Jake Bishop Athletic Fund. Interment will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery.
