Jim E. Dale, age 89, of La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born in Quenemo, Kansas on December 11, 1928 the son of Dewey Dale Sr. and Mary Ann (Dunn) Dale. Jim was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Osawatomie High School. Jim served in the US Army as a Sargent before receiving both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Forestry from Iowa State University. He married Julia Adams on September 5, 1954. Jim worked as a research scientist for the USDA Agricultural Research Service before retiring. While at the USDA, he received a patent for the rope wick applicator system he invented for applying herbicide, and a superior service award from the Secretary of Agriculture. He was a member of the Hebrew Union Temple Congregation in Greenville, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Dewey Jr. and Martin Dale. Jim is survived by his wife Julia, two sons, John and William Dale, two daughters, Lisa Smith and Mary Dale; and four grandchildren: Leah, Jonathan, Michael, and Joshua and a brother Lewis Dale.
