Jimmie Charles Jim Shrum, 84, of Hidden Valley Lakes, died early Wednesday, July 5, 2017. Jim was born April 16, 1933 in Denver, Colorado to Calvin James and Fern Lula (Greenfield) Shrum. His father was an actor in western movies and young Jimmie starred in Trouble At Melody Mesa with his dad. Jim enjoyed fishing, playing cards, woodworking, making clocks, and watching old westerns. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Nemeth) Shrum; parents, Cal and Fern Shrum; one brother, Donald Leroy Roy Shrum; one grandson; and one great-grandson. Survivors include three sons, Jimmie Shrum of Alexandria, VA, Gary Shrum of Clovis, CA, and Bill Buzz Shrum and wife Diana of Mapleton, KS; one daughter, Sherri Fox of Phoenix, AZ; one-daughter-in-law, Sue Shrum of Iola, KS; one brother, Gary Shrum of Mena, AZ; two sisters, Carla Hicks and Nancy Freeman both of Denver, CO; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his special friend, Charlotte Emert. There will be a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Hidden Valley Lake Clubhouse, 93 Hackberry Road, Mapleton, KS. A pot luck meal will be held at 3:00 pm followed by Karaoke. Inurnment will be in Petersburg Oakland Cemetery, Petersburg, Illinois. Friends and family may leave online condolences at Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.
