John Murrow

John Dean Murrow, age 80, Blue Mound, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born on October 23, 1938 in Blue Mound, Kansas the son of Eldon David and Vera Dudley Murrow. He graduated from Blue Mound High School. He married Jeannie Murrow on September 11, 1960. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2014. He later married Barbara Miller Yates on November 28, 2015. Dean worked at Taylor Forge before retiring. After retirement, Dean engaged full time in ranching. He liked to garden, go dancing, and sports, especially, KU basketball and the Kansas City Royals. Also preceding Dean in death were his parents and a brother, Homer Duane Murrow. Dean is survived by his wife, Barbara, a son, Dale Murrow and Janelle, two daughters, Pamela Knopp and Jeff and Stacy Murrow and Betsy, five grandchildren: Dillon Knopp and Lindsey, Griffin Knopp and Danelle, Mason Knopp, and Garrett and Josie Murrow, and two great grandchildren, Renley and Cason Knopp.

Funeral service will be 11 am Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial in the Sunny Slope Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to service time at the Chapel. Dean will lie in state Sunday afternoon from 1 to 5 pm at the Schneider Mound City Chapel.
