Johnnie Lane

Johnnie Ray Lane of La Cygne, Kansas passed away on March 29th, 2007 at his home. He was born April 26th, 1947 at home in Fontana, Kansas. He was the 4th of 8 children born to Webster Riley and Gladys Maxine Beckman Lane. While he was young they lived several places but for the most he grew up in Fontana and always called that home. Johnnie joined the United States Army in 1964 and served a tour of duty in Viet Nam from 1966 thru 1967. The later joined the Army Reserves and remained in the reserves until diagnosis with cancer. Upon his discharge in 1967 he returned to his parents home in La Cygne to start a new life. There he met Nancy Lou Nelson and they were married on April 4th 1968 in La Cygne. They became the parents of a daughter, Susan Renee. This marriage ended in divorce. On March the 6th 1972 he married Connie Rae Mangold in Miami, Oklahoma and they became the parents of a daughter, Tuesdae Renee. This marriage ended in divorce. In the late 70's he was living in Kansas City, Kansas and at that time he married Donna Ingram but this marriage was annulled. Johnnie return to the area in the early 80's and started working at Osawatomie State Hospital it was there he met and married Donna McHatten. They were the parents of twin girls, Amber Nicole and Dawn Marie. This marriage ended in divorce. Johnnie then married on May 23, 1988 in Paola to Rose Wiley of Osawatomie. They were the parents of three children, Jon David, Dwight Allen and Rebecca LeAnn. During this time Johnnie was stricken with cancer and spent a lot of time fighting this disease. This marriage also ended in divorce. On May 17th 2002 he married Sharon Kay Blevins in Miami, Oklahoma. They resided in Oklahoma and Garnett, Kansas. Johnnie returned to La Cygne in 2005 to live near family. He lived in the Senior Housing Apartments until his death. Johnnie had many misfortunes in this life but always tried to keep a smile on his face. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children Susan Norman, Tuesdae Lane, Amber Brown, Dawn Ott, J D Lane, Dwight Lane, Rebecca Lane and Sharon's sons Travis and Todd Sharp. His grandchildren Jonathan, Caleb, Travis, Ruthie, Caden, Austin and an unborn grandson. His brothers Bill, Bob, Ben, Merle and Darrell and his sisters Ramona and Edna Fern. His aunts Edna Debrick and Martha Lane and his uncles Merle Beckman and Donald Lane. And many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. A Memorial Service was held at 2:00 PM, Sunday April 1, 2007, at Calvary Baptist Church in La Cygne for family and friends. Cremation with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery in La Cygne, Kansas.
