Joyce Smith

Joyce Arlene Smith, 65, of Mound City, Kansas, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas. She was born April 2, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond and Jean Cioffee Kola. She married Bill Smith on April 11, 1960 at Kansas City, Missouri. While living in the Chicago area, she was employed with the Sherman Hospital. She was a resident of the Sugar Valley Community near Mound City, Kansas since 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Bill of Mound City, Kansas; two sons, William Smith of Oak Park, Illinois and Richard Smith of Iola, Kansas; two daughters, Candy Douglas & Willie and Cindy Marinaro, all of Elgin, Illinois; four grandchildren; Shauna Douglas, Caryssa Douglas, Alexandra Douglas and Samantha Marinaro and nine great grandchildren; Desmond, Sydney, Janelle, Emily, Alaysia, Chevelle, Adrianna, Jajuan and Cheyanne. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Shaler-Smith Cemetery, Drexel, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to the Joyce Smith Memorial Fund.
