Kathryn Eckland

Kathryn Eckland, age 71, formerly of Sugar Valley Lakes near Mound City, Kansas passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Menorah Medical Center. Kathy was born June 16, 1946 in St. Paul Minnesota to Anthony and Hazel Cloutier Cullen. She married Gary Eckland on October 26, 1968 in Watertown, South Dakota. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2012. Gary and Kathy moved from Minnesota to the Kansas City Metro Area in 1983 and retired to Sugar Valley Lakes in the late 1990''s. She worked as a pharmacy technician spending the majority of her career with Kaiser Permanente. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Judy Peterson and Patricia Hall. Kathy is survived by three children: Chris Eckland and wife Tiffany, Nikki Cannezzaro and husband Chris, and Scott Eckland and wife Laura; two brothers, Casey and Mike Cullen, a sister, Terri Gangl and seven grandchildren: Victoria, Andrew, Cole, Claire, Jacob, Joshua and Brooklyn. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Sacred Hearth Catholic Church in Mound City. A visitation will be on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Humane Society or the American Red Cross in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box J, Mound City, KS 66056.
