Lewis D. Croan, age 87, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Overland Park, Kansas. He was born on September 22, 1931 at Mound City, Kansas the son of Howard and Minnie Hollis Croan. He graduated from Mound City High School in the Class of 1949. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He married Emma Price on February 6, 1955 at the Wall Street Christian Church. Lewis was a member of the Teamsters Union and worked as a mechanic for Yellow Freight Systems for thirty years. He was a member of the Mound City Federated Church, Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion Hewitt New Post #248. He enjoying fishing and going to the casino. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dorothy Waldmer and a grandson, Matthew Croan. Lewis is survived by his wife, Emma, two sons, Dean Croan and Rhonda, and Brent Croan and Pam, a daughter, Lisa Hammons and Chris, a sister, Barbara Furse, five grandchildren: Ian, Isaac, Derick, Austin, and Amy; and five great grandchildren: Madison, Eli, Karleigh, Allen and Cael.
Funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Curry Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 pm Sunday at the Chapel. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
