Lionel Wheeler passed away November 4, 2018, at his home in Linn Valley, Kansas. He was 86 years old. Lionel was born in Hickman, Kentucky on July 8, 1932, the son of Lionel and Clara Luton Wheeler. Services will be at White-Ranson Funeral Home on November 17. Visitation is from 10:00 - 11:00 with the service immediately following. A family service will be held at Gardner Cemetery. Lionel attended Union City High School and Memphis State. He married Patricia Newton on December 25, 1955. He worked for the Ford Motor Company in Union City and Martin for 40 years and spent a few years at Walmart before retiring. Lionel was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Loyal Order of Moose, VFW and the American Legion. He was an Eagle Scout and served in the US Naval Reserves for 8 years. Wheeler was the unofficial mayor of Terrell until moving to Kansas in 2013. Lionel is survived by his wife Pat, daughters Bridget Ward (Rick) and Carmen Glezer (Jeff), grandchildren Bray, James and Drew McKelvy, Ryan Ward, Leah Bond, Claire, Eliza and Emma Glezer and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Parke and Jimmy Wheeler and sister Shirley Davis Guss. The family requests memorials be made to Olathe Health Hospice Care, 20375 W. 151st St., Suite 363, Olathe, KS 66061 or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
