Lonnie Farmer

Lonnie James Farmer, 85, formerly of La Cygne, Kansas died January 8, 2019. Lonnie was born February 20, 1933 in Wellington, Oklahoma to Charles Henry and Dora (Patton) Farmer. Lonnie proudly served his country in the Unites States Army during the Korean War. On June 28, 1952 he married Hazel Herriman at Eufaula, Oklahoma. He worked as a draftsman for Panhandle Eastern for nearly 30 years. He was also the caretaker of the Oak Lawn Cemetery from 1994 to 2003. Lonnie enjoyed carpentry and working with wood. At the age of 82, he began remodeling his most recent home. He also had a 1966 Impala Convertible that he was very proud of. Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hazel on December 1, 2006; two brothers, Charles Farmer and Travis Farmer; one sister, May Farmer at the age of 2. Survivors include one son and his wife, Ron and Mary Beth Farmer; one daughter and her husband, Peggy and Jerry Elliott; two brothers, Troy Farmer and Henry Farmer; one sister, Marie Bird; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Oak Lawn Cemetery, La Cygne, Kansas. Friends and family may leave on line condolences at www.schneiderfunerals.com. Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel.
