Manetta Horton

July 19, 1911 — August 8, 2005

August 8, 2005. She was born July 19, 1911 at Redfield, Kansas, the daughter of Carl Oscar and Margaret Charlton Peterson. The family moved to Iola, Kansas where she graduated in 1929. She married Harry Edward Horton on July 20, 1934. Harry died July 10, 1978. She was a member of the Hume Methodist Church, a 69 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She worked with Harry for Blaker Lumber & Grain for many years and as manager of the propane company in Hume, retiring in 1978. She also played piano for church for 60 years and for many weddings, funerals and programs and contests for Hume and surrounding communities. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved to be with her family. She leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Harriet and Larry Bogan; one grandson, Loren Bogan & wife, Annette; two granddaughters, Loree White & husband, Mike and Laina Dixon and Steve Miller; four great granddaughters, Stefani, Kaley, Ashtynn & Brianna and soon to be born, Brooklyn; eight great grandsons, Bryon, Kristopher, Robert, Brandon, Brayden, Blaine, Blake and Nikolas and two step great grandchildren; Autumn and Chance; one sister-in-law and husband, Lorene and Harry McClaughry and special nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents; three sisters; three infants and one great grandson, Brett Landon Bogan. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 11, 2005 at the Hume United Methodist Church, Hume, Missouri. Visitation will be from 7-8 PM, Wednesday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Hume, Missouri. Contributions are suggested to the Hume Cemetery. Interment will be in Hume Cemetery.
