Marion Ralph Cannon was the 4th son born to Virgil Wayne Cannon and Velva Ernestine Hill Cannon on November 30, 1941 in Prescott, Kansas. He passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at home with his family by his side. Marion graduated from Hume High School in the Class of 1960 and joined the United States Army in 1960 and was stationed in Germany for eighteen months. Being in the military was something Marion was always proud of throughout his life. Marion and Joyce Bogan were married October 16, 1965, and to this union three children were born; Kristy Cannon Brooks, Dennis Alan Cannon, and Kerri Cannon Snyder.
The couple resided in Kansas City for a year before moving to Hume, where Kristy was born. The family then moved to Fulton, Kansas where Marion would pursue dairy farming. During their fifteen years in Fulton they added Dennis and Kerri to their family. They eventually left the farm and came back to Hume. Marion worked in construction, concrete, and drove a truck for Western Metal, until he retired in 2003.
Marion was a long-time member of the Hume Christian Church and Hume Saddle Club. He loved all things outdoors including, riding horses, hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was a GPS for anyone, when GPS wasn''t a thing. He was constantly doing things for the grandchildren and great grandchildren, sneaking pop to the kids, keeping suckers in his pocket for them, and teaching many how to drive. None of the grandchildren ever heard him use the word no!
Marion is survived by his wife, Joyce Cannon, of the home; daughter, Kristy and husband Matt Brooks of Hume MO; Son, Dennis Cannon of Hume Mo; daughter Kerri and husband Jeffrey Snyder; grandchildren, Clayton Brooks (Brittney), Leana Terry (Zach), Cody Cannon (Tara), Ethan Brooks, Trent Cannon, Emily Banes (Kyle), Hannah Cannon, Madison Cannon, Gabe Barnes, Grace Barnes, Faith Barnes, and Hope Barnes; Twelve great grandchildren with one on the way.
Marion is preceded in death by his father, Virgil Cannon; mother, Velva Ernestine Howe; brothers, Kenneth Cannon, Norman Cannon, and Windell Cannon.
