Mary Lillie Hess, age 91, Hume, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Nevada Regional Medical Center. She was born on September 4, 1924 at Mapleton, Kansas the daughter of William and Dovie Krebs Potter. She attended school at Fulton, Kansas and her final two years of high school at Hume, Missouri. She married John Dudley Hess on June 1, 1942. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2002. Mary was a member of the Hume First Christian Church. She worked on the farm and enjoyed gardening. Mary loved spending time with family and friends and traveling. Camping in the mountains and touring flower gardens were some of her favorite places to visit. Her kindness and big heart made her a natural at helping others, and love, strength and faith led her through a very fulfilling life. She is survived by two sons, John Hess and wife Gloria, and James Hess, one grand daughter, Misty Stewart and husband Doug, and three great grandchildren: Chance, Logan and fiancé Julia, and Anessa and husband John, and one great great granddaughter, Ellie. . Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Hume Christian Church. Burial will be in the Independence Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to service time at the church. The family suggests contributions to the Independence Cemetery.
