Norman Bergman

Ray Bergman, age 82 of LaCygne, Kansas passed away Monday, July 17, 2006 at Fort Scott Manor, Fort Scott, Kansas. He was born August 27, 1923 in LaCygne, Kansas the son of Henry and Stella Boyd Bergman. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater in World War II earning the Combat Infantry badges, the Asiatic-Pacific theater ribbon with 3 battle stars, the Philippine Liberation ribbon and the Good Conduct ribbon. He later served in the Air Force in the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. After the war, he worked for Linn County in heavy construction. He married Thelma Baker on May 24, 1963 in Miami, Oklahoma. Ray was preceded in death by his wife Thelma on July 24, 1988, six brothers; Frank, Charlie, Clarence, Harvey, Junior, and James Bergman, two sisters; Bessie Haynes and Edna Arzberger. He is survived by a brother Harry Bergman of LaCygne, Kansas, three sisters; Alda Cole of LaCygne, Kansas, Marjorie McGinnis of Fort Scott, Kansas, and Ruth Allison of Marshall, Missouri and one brother-in-law George Arzberger of LaCygne, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel in LaCygne, Kansas with a private burial following the service in Oak Lawn Cemetery, LaCygne, Kansas. No visitation is planned and memorial can be made to the Fort Scott Manor Activity Fund and left in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.coffelschneider.com.
