Owen Lee Haverfield, age 88, formerly of La Cygne and Parker, Kansas passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018. He was born on August 9, 1929 the son of George and Violet Robinson Haverfield. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Owen was a dairy farmer before becoming a John Deere mechanic working on hay bailers and combines area wide, including: Drexel, Butler, Harrisonville, Ottawa, and Garnett. His customers appreciated the work he did. He had so many requests to work on equipment after he retired, he came out of retirement and worked for several more years. He attended functions at the Parker Methodist Church and enjoyed growing a big garden. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wilma Coleman. Owen is survived by his wife, Juanita Haverfield, daughter, Janet Reed, brother Charles O. Haverfield, two grandchildren Megan and Daniel Reed and several nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held 1 to 3 pm Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel.
