Paul Jones Sr.

Paul W. Jones Sr. died on June 16, 2023, and lived to be 79 years, 3 months, and 5 days.  He was born on March 11, 1944, in Olathe, Kansas. (In Grandma Nora’s house at 204 South Church Street).

He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Willa Mae Jackson Jones and by his parents, Clifford L Jones (Fannie) and Mary Jane Doles Faulkner (Tom); sisters, Alice Swearengin (Jim) and Brenda Graham; brothers, Carl Jones Sr (Rusty) and Marvin R Jones (Kathy); and four daughters, Julie Brown, Kimberley Nave, Cindi Smith, and Virgilena Mae Shriver (Chip).

He is survived by his son Paul W. Jones Jr. of La Cygne, Ks., and his brothers Richard A Jones (Linda) of Bolivar, Mo., and Donald L. Jones (Jon) of Pflugerville, Tx. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory 10 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 5 great-greatgrandchildren.  Most of Paul’s work history was in the brick laying and building business, building many businesses in the local area. Paul saw a need to open a gathering place for the residents of Prescott, Ks. to mix and mingle and opened a bar there and operated it for many years.  Paul delighted in sitting out in his garage listening to the old minitrials from the old-time church music. He also was a garage sale and auction sale aficionado, always looking for the best deal of the day.

The inurnment service will be at Prescott Cemetery, Prescott, KS on Saturday July 15, 2023, at 1:00pm.  Celebration of Life service will be held directly after the inurnment at 89 South Mine Creek Dr. Mound City, KS 66056 directly after the grave side services on Saturday July 15, 2023.
