Reba Weller

Rebecca (Reba) Florence Weller, 97, passed away Friday morning, March 9, 2012, after a brief illness at the Country View Nursing Home, Prescott, KS. She was born December 10, 1914, in western Bates County, MO, the daughter of Charles and Mila May Blair Keller. Her mother, Mila, died of pneumonia when Reba was only 4 months old. She was raised by her grandparents, Absalom and Mary Keller in southeast rural Pleasanton. She attended Walnut Valley Elementary School, and graduated from Hume, MO, High School in 1932. She was married to Luther C. Weller on October 19, 1935, in Butler, MO. They celebrated 61 years of marriage before his death in 1996. Reba worked for a number of years as a telephone operator for the Pleasanton Telephone Company; later known as Craw-Kan Telephone Co. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Pleasanton; Eastern Star, and the Pleasanton Pinochle Club. She served on the Executive Council of Southeast Kansas Community Action Program; was active in the Linn County Senior Citizens Group, and the Southeast Kansas Organized Citizens of Kansas. Reba was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed needlework and crocheting; loved her flower garden; and her pets. Reba is survived by her daughter, Lois and husband, Buddy Payne, Pleasanton; her son, Jim and wife Phyllis Weller of Mundelein, IL.and a sister-in-law, Willietta Hufana. She was a proud grandma to 5 grandchildren: Debra Cox, Warsaw, MO; Bill Payne, Pleasanton, KS; Lori Frazier, Joplin, MO; Kyle Weller, Wauconda, IL ; Mark Weller, Wauconda, IL; 12 great-grandchildren, Venecia, Mike, Nathan, Bryan, Hannah, Jeremy, Douglas, Dylan, Jack, Natalie, Luke, Kelly; and 7 great-great grandchildren, Trenton, Clayton, Andrew, Noah, Sampson, Aron, Breonna. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Schneider Funeral Home, Pleasanton Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Monday at the chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or Prescott Countryview Nursing Home. Interment will be in the Littell Cemetery, Pleasanton, Kansas.
