Rex Smith

Rex Daniel Smith, age 70, Gardnerville, Nevada formerly of Linn County, Kansas passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at his home. He was born in Orange, California the son of Clayton and Treva Towels Smith. After graduating from high school he attended Pittsburg State University and earned a BS in Business Administration. He married Raquel Sierra on February 14, 1977 at St. Therese''s Catholic Church in Lake Tahoe, California. He currently owned Tahoe Jewelers. He was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church in Nevada and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mound City, Kansas when visiting family. He was a Lt. Colonel and squadron commander in the Civil Air Patrol. He enjoyed reading, history, and was always eager to learn more. Rex could always laugh and had a smile on his face. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Hillary. Rex is survived by his wife Raquel, three sons: Matthew Smith and Yolaunda, Courtney Smith and Ashley, and Kyle Smith and Jessica, a daughter Nicole Smith, and two grandchildren, Hayden Elizabeth Smith and Kiara Jackalin Luhrs. Funeral liturgy will be 10 am Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Church, Mound City, Kansas. Burial in the Prescott Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 am to service at Sacred Heart Hall. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association. On line condolences can be left at Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.
