Stephen Ray Johnson, age 61, Pleasanton, Kansas died Tuesday, June 19th, 2018. He was born in Fort Scott, Kansas on May 11th, 1957, the son of Eldon and Donna Queen Johnson. He graduated from Pleasanton High School in the Class of 1975. He completed the Boilermaker''s National Apprenticeship Program and began his career as a union boilermaker. He was married to Sherrie Worthington on October 1, 1976 at the Pleasanton United Methodist Church, and also enjoyed teaching Sunday School in previous years. Professionally, he was a member of Boilermakers Local #83, and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. He finished his working career as an instructor in the Boilermaker''s National Apprenticeship Program. He dedicated his time to organizing the summer baseball program for the community. He spent many years coaching youth baseball, and brought Babe Ruth League Baseball to Pleasanton and Linn County where he also served as League President. He was preceded in death by his father, Eldon. Steve is survived by his wife Sherrie, a daughter Jennifer Marshall and husband Joshua, a son Jackson Johnson, his mother Donna Johnson, two brothers, Mitchell Johnson and wife Melody, and Paul Johnson, one grandson Jackson Marshall, a large extended family, and many friends Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday June 23, 2018 at the Pleasanton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Trading Post Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Friday June 22 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory Pleasanton Chapel.
