Virginia Uptegrove

Virginia Mae Uptegrove, age 91 of Blue Mound, Kansas died Sunday July 22, 2012 at the Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kansas. She was born February 23, 1921 at Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Maurice and Bessie Hughes Woods. She married Clifford Uptegrove on September 25, 1938 at Independence, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1987. Virginia had several jobs which included working at a state hospital in Nebraska, at a print shop making posters, helping her husband farm, with Concern for over 20 years, and even performed on the Grand Ole Opry. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mound City, Kansas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son; James Uptegrove, a daughter; Joann Uptegrove, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Virginia is survived by several grand and great grandchildren. Friends and family will gather at 11:30 AM Thursday July 26,2012 for a rosary at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory Mound City Chapel. A graveside service will immediately follow at the Mound City National Cemetery.
