Wanita Sluder

Wanita Faye Sluder, age 81, of Mound City, Kansas died Sunday October 6, 2013 at her home. She was born on July 10, 1932 at Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Lloyd and Opal Dizmang Morrell. She married Joseph Sluder on February 23, 1951 at Wichita, Kansas, he preceded her in death on November 14, 2003. Wanita worked as a seamstress for Braemoores, was a member of the Mound City United Methodist Church, the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, was an avid sewer and reader and loved the Kansas City Royals. She was also preceded in death by her parents: Lloyd and Opal Morrell, two infant sons: Kenneth and Charles Sluder; a brothers Vernon Morrell, and a grandson Russell Moore. Survivors include two sons: John Sluder and Jean of Blue Mound, Kansas and Marvin Sluder and Susie of Stark, Kansas; three daughters: Terry Kern and Ken of Riverside, Missouri, Marjorie Moore of Raytwon, Missouri and Rose Anne Carrow and Pat of Independence, Missouri, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday October 11, 2013 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory Mound City Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday October 10, 2013 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Curry Cemetery near Mound City. The family suggests contributions to the Mound City Public Library and may be left in C/O the Schneider Funeral Homeand Crematory P.O. Box J Mound City, Kansas 66056.
