Warren Barber

February 10, 1931 — November 29, 2021

Warren Hayward Barber, age 90, La Cygne, Kansas passed away Monday, November 29, 2021.  He was born in Versailles, Missouri February 10, 1931, The son of Lum Lee and Neva Annie Moser Barber.  He enjoyed a childhood in rural southern Missouri and talked fondly of riding his bike as a young boy from Noel to the neighboring town to save five cents on his haircut, so he could buy candy from the local store. His family moved to Kansas City, Missouri when he was about eleven years old. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1949.  Warren served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War. He served as a propeller mechanic and earned the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He was united in marriage to Vivian Cross on September 21, 1956 in the Spring Valley Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.  Warren was a hard working man, a member of the IBEW Union working at Kansas City Power and Light from 1956 to 1994. He was a member of the Grace Community Church where he worshiped and enjoyed his church family. The two most important things in Warren’s life were his relationship with Christ and love for his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Edwin Lee Barber, and a sister, Virginia Ann Pence, and a Grandson Brock Barber.  Warren is survived by his wife, Vivian, three sons, Douglas Barber, Edwin Barber and wife Jane, and Samuel Barber and wife Bobbi, two daughters, Susan Peery and husband Tom, and Nancy Hayes and husband Mike, seventeen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
