William Colbert

William Thomas Colbert, age 87, Linn Valley, Kansas, went to be with the Lord Wednesday May 30, 2018 at Olathe Medical Center. He was born in May 3, 1931 in Gretna, Virginia, the son of Guy and Ocea (Adams) Colbert. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He attended Virginia Commercial Business College and worked as an accountant for Amoco/BP before retiring. Bill was married to Sybil Johnson on August 3, 1963. To this union, one daughter was born. After retiring, Bill found a calling as a pastor. He served as associate pastor at Vista Baptist Church in Olathe, Kansas and later at Linn Valley Community Church. While living in Linn Valley, he helped develop the Linn Valley Veteran''s Memorial Park. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Guy Colbert, and two sisters, Peggy Shaw and Madeline Dalton. Bill is survived by his wife, Sybil, his daughter, Michele Friesen and husband Steve and two grandsons, Collin and Cody. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held 6:30 pm Monday, June 4, 2018, at the Linn Valley Community Church. Visitation will be held before the service from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. A graveside burial service will be held at the Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton, Georgia on Saturday June 9 at 11:00 am.
