John Woodburn

John William Woodburn, 76, died March 7, 2021 in Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas.  John was born on Jan. 7, 1945 in Kansas City, Mo. to William A. and Sylvia Saunders Woodburn.

John spent his childhood on the family farm in Linn County, Kansas and graduated from LaCygne Rural High School in 1963.  He went on to graduate from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology.  His career as a microbiologist was spent in various research and development labs in the Kansas City area, working primarily on animal vaccine research.

John was an avid outdoorsman, finding peace in the woods, lakes and streams of Eastern Kansas and Northwest Arkansas.  He and a close-knit group of friends fished and hunted in many areas of the Midwest, the upper Midwest, and the mountains of Colorado.  John was a good man whose generosity and friendship were valued by all who knew him.

Survivors include his sister Jane (Alan) Terry, Carbondale, IL, brother-in-law Marvin Lindsey, Thornton, CO; nieces Beth (Frank) Southers, Atlanta, GA; Anne Terry, Carbondale, IL; nephews, Brian (Cynthia) Lindsey, Fort Collins, CO;  Bruce (Alisha) Lindsey, Littleton, CO; Kent (Lezlie) Terry, Carbondale, IL. He is also survived by 10 grandnephews and nieces, Jack Southers, Lindsey (Ray) Brown, Maddy Southers, all of Atlanta, GA;  Brandon and Megan Lindsey, Fort Collins, CO;  Natalie and Sylvia Lindsey, Littleton, CO and Elijah, Olivia and Adeline Terry, Carbondale, IL.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sara Ann Lindsey.

Graveside services will be held on Sat., April 24th at 2:00 pm at the Pleasanton Cemetery in Pleasanton, Kansas, under the direction of Schneider Funeral Home.  Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.  Memorials may be directed to the National Parks Foundation or The American Cancer Society c/o Schneider Funeral Home, P.O.
