Ron Wade

December 5, 1951 — August 18, 2021

On Wednesday August 18, 2021, Ron Dean Wade, 69, slipped peacefully away at home to be with God. His family was given the blessing to provide care and comfort up to the end.

Born in 1951, Ron was the second youngest of four children to Ivan and Barbara Wade. Ron attended LaCygne Rural High School, dabbled in the college life, attending Fort Scott Community College and Pittsburg State University while working at Atkinson Armature. Ron eventually returned back to LaCygne where he began working for the family business, Wade Quarries.

Eventually in 2004 his son Jacob joined the family business, where they worked side by side and took immense pride in making quality aggregates, up until he retired as President in December of 2017. Ron was a member of the LaCygne Christian Church and Kansas Limestone Association. Ron enjoyed riding motorcycles, operating machinery, and traveling. One of Ron’s most favorite trips was to Whidbey Island, WA in June of 2017 with his children and grandchildren; a tradition that they began and carried on until his passing.

During his retirement Ron spent two years in Overland Park, KS being a caregiver for his parents Ivan and Barbara until Ivan’s passing. What brought him his greatest joy, was time spent being Papa to his grandsons, Miles and Jude, riding motorcycles, shooting guns, fishing, hunting for frogs, spending time at the rock quarry, and teaching them life lessons that only a grandpa can teach.

Ron is survived by his children, Jacob Wade (significant other, Hunter Elkington), Ashleigh Lollar (husband Chris), and grandchildren Miles and Jude Lollar. He is also survived by his mother Barbara Wade, his sisters Gwen Gooding (husband Craig) and Carolyn Shomaker. In addition, niece Courtney Henderson (children Berkeley and Carson), nephews Jonathan Amborn (wife Megan, their children John and Josie), Chad Gooding (wife Amanda, their children Caden and Carter), and his former wife and lifelong friend, Kate Kloster. Ron is preceded in death by his father Ivan Wade and his brother Mark Wade.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. David Lee and Olathe Cancer Center for the excellent care and support they provided him. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Jennifer Shay, Beverly Rhynerson Smith, Rochelle Baker, and Doris McElreath for their compassionate care over the last several months and to Olathe Hospice for keeping him comfortable in his last weeks of life.

A service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, to honor his memory, please donate to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64105, or online at donate3.cancer.org. Condolences may be left online at www.schneiderfunerals.com
