Sue Stevenin, age 80, La Cygne, Kansas passed away peacefully Friday December 25, 2020 at her home after being recently diagnosed with cancer. She was born on February 17, 1940 in Metz, Missouri the daughter of Lireva Lucy Nicholas and John Ross Brown. Sue was a seamstress from an early age. She worked several years for Superior Draperies before opening her own business, Sue’s Custom Draperies. Sue was married to Willard Henry Stevenin on May 9, 1959. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Willard, Ernest and John Brown, and a sister, Wilma Compton. Sue was a member of the New Lancaster United Methodist Church, Jingo Janes, Les Petites Bridge Club, Foresters, and Frontier Twirlers Square Dance Club. She enjoyed playing golf and was an accomplished painter, winning awards for her work. Sue is survived by two daughters, Cindy Biddle and husband Joe, Sherry Harman and husband Tom and three grandchildren, Mark Harman, Devyn Harman, and Scott Harman; sister in laws, Norma Rash, and Linda Van Hoecke; a brother in law, Ron Stevenin, several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 am Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial will be in the Jingo Cemetery. Sue will lie in state from 12 noon to 5 pm Wednesday December 30, followed by a visitation from 5 to 7 pm at the Schneider La Cygne Chapel.
